Charlotte, NC | May 24, 2017 – Growth is Bond between Jackrabbit Technologies and Little Otter Swim School
The 2017 list of Inc. 5000 companies was recently published and several local companies were included. Two of these companies, Jackrabbit Technologies and Little Otter Swim School, have a special relationship.
Distinct Differences
The two companies couldn’t sound more different. Jackrabbit Technologies is a software company providing business management software to all sizes of children’s activity centers in more than 20 countries. Little Otter Swim School teaches children to swim. From its two locations in Mecklenburg County, Little Otter has earned the loyalty of more than 10,000 students and their parents in not only teaching them to swim but also instilling a love of the sport and water.
Common Bond
Jackrabbit’s and Little Otter’s futures are, in fact, intertwined and not just because of the Inc. 5000. The companies have a long-standing client-vendor relationship that both owners believe has had a significant impact on their placement on the list.
“Our relationship is very symbiotic. Our clients – of which Little Otter is one of the most successful – become more efficient and grow by virtue of our software. Their success truly fuels our success,” says Mark Mahoney, president and co-founder of Jackrabbit Technologies.
According to John Kirk, co-owner of Little Otter Swim School, “We went from paper to technology. In doing that, we did lots of research and even tried a couple of other software systems, but found that Jackrabbit was the better way. We have invested in marrying our business processes up with the best practices Jackrabbit provides, so it’s very important to us that Jackrabbit continues to earn success and grow. Its success means that Jackrabbit will continue to innovate and develop its software into the future.”
Entrepreneurial Aspirations
Making the Inc. 5000 list has tremendous meaning for two entrepreneurs like Mark and John.
“It legitimizes us as a high growth company and it’s a source of pride for employees. Because of that it’s also a great recruiting tool,” notes Mark.
John sees it as a culmination of efforts for Little Otter. “We came from a mom- and-pop to a multi-location school. Parents don’t base decisions to come to us on the recognition but it is part of several factors that help us to build loyalty with the parents of our students.”
Jackrabbit Technologies has made the Inc. 5000 list for seven consecutive years, ranking 4023 this year. Little Otter Swim School ranks at an impressive 3626 in its first year on the notable list.
“Our consistency of growth has enabled us to invest in lots of things – some of the most important being implementing systems that continue to fuel our growth.” Mark explains. “This consistency also helps to drive home the fact that we reinvest in our software and that innovating is critical to our goal of being the top software provider for years to come.”
