Jackrabbit Technologies Helps Debut New Hope4Kids Program: Project Clean

Charlotte, NC | December 11, 2012 – Jackrabbit Technologies, leading provider of web-based solutions for youth activities centers, will be the first corporation to participate in a new Hope4Kids/Grain of Wheat International program called Project Clean. On Tuesday, December 18th, Jackrabbit will host a “packing party” at its Huntersville office where Jackrabbit staff and family members will fill 350 back packs for delivery by Project Clean’s team to children in the shanty town communities of Bogata, Colombia. Each back pack will contain basic hygiene items that most of us take for granted (bar soap, a wash cloth, toothpaste and a toothbrush) but to which these children have no access.

Hope4Kids provides several programs with the mission of making a difference in the lives of children around the globe. The organization delivers crucial items that will improve the children’s well-being and remind them that they have a future and hope.

Project Clean takes their initiative much farther than delivering hygiene items. The team works within the shanty towns to ensure that the children receiving the back packs know how to use their new items and understand how important cleanliness is to their health and well-being. Along with the hygiene items, the children also receive a devotional pamphlet that shares spiritual messages of God’s Word.

There are more than 1.1 billion people in developing countries have inadequate access to water, and 2.6 billion lack basic sanitation, according to GlobalIssues.org, so there are plenty of areas in need. The difficulty comes in deciding which areas to help first.

“There are children all over the world suffering from spiritual and physical poverty. We seek out ways to bring the poorest the basic necessities that they lack and to share with them the Word of God,” comments Kim Westfall, Director of Grain of Wheat. “This is not just a one time delivery but is actually one of several programs designed by our organization to continue to meet basic needs of children in the poorest regions of the world. We are excited Jackrabbit is stepping forward –  in both financial and hands-on ways – to support our efforts and to provide hope to children around the world.”
“The long-term aspects of Hope4Kids’ initiatives are exciting to us. We consider it crucial to make access to basic needs for these children an ongoing initiative and one that truly gives them hope for a better future. So when we looked for a hands-on project to support during the holidays and beyond, we immediately reached out to them to find out how we could be a more active supporter. We are excited about Project Clean because it is so simple. We don’t even think of doing without soap, wash cloths, toothpaste and toothbrushes, yet in these impoverished areas all over the world, children don’t even know what these items are or how to use them,” comments Mark Mahoney, Jackrabbit’s President and CoFounder. “It gives us a new perspective on being thankful.”
