This Local Company’s Team Packs Boxes to Augment Senior Citizens’ Food Supply
Friday, March 17, 2023 – CHARLOTTE – Jackrabbit Technologies, the leader in providing cloud-based class management software to youth activity and child care centers, took a team of volunteers to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to help the food bank prepare donations for use by its partner organizations. Jackrabbit’s volunteers packaged meal boxes for senior citizens in the Charlotte metro area who need assistance.
Work to Support a Pivotal Service
“This is the first time Jackrabbit has packaged Senior Boxes and it was fun to be selected for one of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s special projects. The need to help seniors is critical with forty-two percent of the hungry in the Metrolina area being children and seniors,” says Jackrabbit COO, Darin Soll.
Senior boxes give older community members what they need to create a specific menu to augment their pantries. Jackrabbit’s team of 16 packaged 637 boxes using two menus during its three-hour work time.
“We have so much fun working together regardless of what the organizers at Second Harvest Food Bank ask of us. We’re very competitive and need no motivation to pursue our goals or set records – as we did last week with the senior boxes we packaged,” notes Jackrabbit Human Resources Director Tracey Chantry.
“We always love to see Jackrabbit on our volunteer schedule! We know we can depend on Jackrabbit to bring the number of volunteers they commit to, follow instructions of their SHFB leaders, and do the work necessary to feed our hungry neighbors.” describes Betsy Van Dyne, Volunteer Coordinate, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. “They are detail oriented, highly motivated and work well as a team to get the job done correctly the first time.”
Jackrabbit supports several philanthropic organizations in the Charlotte area. Rise Against Hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, and joins McDonalds as one of only two corporate champions of Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Charlotte Area.
